Galana Energies’ Internal Launch: CEO Speech Highlights

At our staff party last December, our CEO Anthony Munyasya covered our growth so far, and gave us a look at the journey ahead. In case you missed it, here are some highlights from his speech:

“As a company, we have traversed a significant milestone that defines the Galana Energy journey - a 23-year journey of growth and transformation. It all began 23 years ago, with a vision and a handful of people to make a mark in the industry. From humble beginnings, we have grown into a formidable force in the energy sector. Our journey bears witness to how much the brand has grown both physically and in the degree of teamwork we have demonstrated to build Galana Energies Limited. This teamwork was very evident during the Galana’s Odyssey activities that you all enthusiastically took part in.

In the past few months, we began our transition from being under various brands to one brand: Galana Energies Limited. Our goal has been to redefine our brand ethos internally and externally. Now, our brand objectives are: - brand harmonisation, brand equity, building and maintaining a strong brand, and establishing an authentic premium Kenyan brand anchored on our core values - SPAIC. This stands for safety, strong partnerships, agility, innovation, and customer-focus.

We have had an exciting and challenging year. Our business has doubled, and we have grown in profitability and optimization. This year alone we have opened 5 new stations - Tala, Kamangu Mtwapa, Mtopanga, Kakamega, Oloitoktok, and Mariakani. In the upcoming year, our retail department will be upgrading all our stations, and our oil supply and training will also increase. Moving forward, we’ll be doing more business in the Great Lakes region as part of our expansion. To this end, we also opened our Uganda office this year, and it is now fully operational. We lubricants team and our LPG team has also been performing well - winning tenders and high volumes from B2B business. By the end of January we will be ISO certified, which will provide more business support for the team. However, the year was not without its challenges. We faced a lot more competition, changes of policy, geopolitics, and other hurdles in the energy market.

Some of the aspects we are going to be keen on moving forward is optimising our business and the customer experience. Risk management is another important factor for success as we grow. We will be enhancing our risk management practices, including: identifying potential risks, developing robust mitigation strategies and ensuring the resilience of our operations. We will also be actively seeking and participating in partnerships in our field. Effective marketing and communication strategies will also be another focus for us moving forward, so that we can tell our story authentically. Lastly, we will be promoting diversity of products and services as we expand in other regions.

Our strength and success revolves around you, it’s people. Therefore, we will be strengthening leadership and management. We will also be fostering a company culture, because this is the glue that binds us together. Our culture will be an inclusive, collaborative, and empowering company culture where every team member feels valued.

Lastly, each one of you is the ambassador for the brand. The biggest marketers of the brand are me and you. The way you carry yourself, your dedication, and the positive energy you share with the team are the building blocks of our brand. As we step into the new year, let’s carry our values and objectives forward. Let’s be bold and innovative and let’s support each other in our collective journey towards excellence.”
